About Stephen Traina-Dorge

I'm a trained sociological qualitative researcher and interviewer whose foremost passion is writing. From manuscripts and research papers to copywriting, I bring years of international expertise to my clients. Current and former clients include Star, Audientes, Blue Temple Architecture Firm, U.S. Embassy Yangon, and USAID.I'm also the founder of an innovative social enterprise in far northern Myanmar, and I have been directing documentaries throughout the country since 2015. I first launched with a cultural preservation documentary called Face of Myanmar, and with my team we conducted over 550 interviews and captured more than 9,000 images documenting the unique traditions and oral histories of many ethnic groups in Myanmar—some of which have never been recorded before today. We are now in the process of publishing a book with our findings through a Bangkok publishing house. I also co-directed two additional sociological videography projects: an oral history documentary for the U.S. Embassy Myanmar’s American Center and a short film for USAID’s Promoting the Rule of Law Project in Myanmar.Since 2021, I started working as an Export Partner for Sawbwa Coffee Company, and later founded Pink Headed Duck Coffee to find new market linkages and opportunities in the USA. From Myanmar's Himalayan foothills to the northern Shan Plateau, Pink Headed Duck is working on something exciting - creating a direct link between the nation's specialty coffee growers and international buyers.
