Founded in 2017, Face of Indawgyi is a community-focused organization that promotes four main pillars: educational opportunities, cultural preservation, environmental conservation, and local business development. The goal is to use revenue from sustainable tourism to fund different community projects and provide opportunities in tech, hospitality, and other disciplines that have never existed before around Indawgyi Lake—the country's largest lake and recently designated UNESCO site.

I founded this social documentary research project in 2015 to archive a unique and disappearing Burmese tradition. I organized a team, created a website and social media pages, and raised over $10,000 through crowdfunding to initiate our qualitative and quantitative research in Myanmar. To date, we have collected 557 interviews and captured over 9,000 images.

Face of Myanmar was chosen to make a short film for USAID’s The Promoting the Rule of Law Project (PRLP) as part of the Legal Aid Toolkit Launch Event on December 8, 2016. Our team only had two weeks from pre-production to final cut. Spoken in Burmese, subtitles in English.

My social documentary team, Face of Myanmar, was the recipient of a $6,000 award to conduct a videography oral history project for the U.S. Embassy’s American Center. I was responsible for over sixty interviews within a month span to produce this hour-long film.
