CONVICTION:My conviction is that the Bible (in its original languages) is the inspired, infallible Word from the living, Creator-God.PASSION:I am passionate about teaching it accurately, protecting it from being misused by others for personal profit, and generally contending for the faith as Jude implores all believers to do (Jude 3).MOTIVATION:I am motivated by the way the Word of God is being misused and abused especially on the continent of Africa where hundreds of thousands of men and women are being deceived and misled by false teachers. OBJECTIVES:My objectives involve contending for the faith by providing a biblical foundation for untrained African pastors and by warning them about the false teaching (primarily what is commonly referred to as the "health and wealth gospel") that is sweeping across the continent. Further, I want to train and equip a minimum of 50 pastors spread across 10 African countries to be able to conduct the seminars I have been conducting since 2003. That will increase the numbers being trained yearly from hundreds to potentially hundreds of thousands.

Founder And PresidentInternational Training & Equipping Ministries Jun 2003 - PresentHillsboro, OrSteve founded International Training & Equipping Ministries in 2003 and since then has been providing overall leadership to the ministry. He has been conducting Bible and theology seminars for untrained pastors in Africa from the start and beginning in 2012 has been focusing on training Africans to conduct the seminars on their own. This project will be completed in 2018 at which time there will be a minimum of 50 trainers spread across 10 African countries who are capable of conducting the ITEM seminars on their own.

Associate Pastor Of Small Groups And MissionsCalvary Church Oct 1996 - Jun 2005Hillsboro, OrSteve started a small group ministry at the church. That included training the small group leaders. He occasionally preached in the senior pastor's absence. He also headed up the ushering ministry. After an initial trip to Africa to teach as an adjunct professor in January of 1998 his vision for training pastors began to develop and in 1999 was made the Missions Pastor. As missions pastor he was involved in planting churches in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and training pastors in several African countries. He formed his own nonprofit in 2003 and left the paid pastoral position in 2005 so he could spend time developing his nonprofit full time.
