Leading and supervising the multiple work streams of the National Aspiring Principals Fellowship’s Implementation Team. In this role, I served as the instructional and organizational leader of a large culturally diverse, urban school serving more than 800 students in grades PreK – 5th and 90+ staff members. Our school is highlighted in upcoming Stenhouse Publishing teacher and school leader training material for outstanding implementation of teacher coaching and student engagement methods with the Reading Workshop approach to Literacy instruction (Release Date: Fall 2019).Notable Achievements: Led the restructuring of targeted grade levels to a departmentalized structure which has to date has resulted in a 24% increase in 5th grade ELA test scores and a 17.5% increase in 5th grade Mathematics scores; Annual 2-3 years growth in student literacy levels in grades K-5; Lead a model PreK program recognized by the NJ State Governor; Secured a $25k grant from Amazon used to expand STEM education opportunities across grades K-5; Developed and overseeing the implementation of State instructional improvement plan for our school’s historically underperforming subgroup which resulted in significant gains in Mathematics and annual yearly progress in Literacy; Led school wide adoption of the National Watch D.O.G.S. New Jersey Department Of Education | Essex and Hudson Counties, NJ | Collaborated with school superintendents and their executive cabinet to develop and implement a strategy to increase achievement in their lowest-performing schools. Provided regional leadership and served as a school leadership coach for a cohort of 5 schools (one K-8 , 3 middle schools, and 1 high school) within Irvington Public Schools and Jersey City Schools. Instructional leadership, organizational management, and strategic planning were key levers targeted in my coaching to significantly improve the quality of schools' instructional programs for all learners.Notable Achievements: Guided districts in restructuring their budgets and human capital strategy which led to the creation of key school-based positions that accelerated student achievement; I successfully guided schools' exit from the list of schools in need of improvement.

My role in this work included developing and providing professional development to a cohort of our partner middle schools and high schools across the New York City region, providing real-time coaching, including observation and immediate actionable feedback to teachers on the implementation of newly learned instructional practices.Notable Achievements: Led teams in the evaluation and recruitment of potential school partners; Revised program curriculum training modules so they are applicable to middle school and high school teacher/student audiences throughout the region.

Served as founding principal of Newark Innovation Academy, a multi-campus, grant-funded high school created to meet the needs of students who demonstrated the potential to thrive in a non-traditional high school setting. Directed the collaboration of philanthropic entities and four nationally recognized learning partners - Diploma Plus, Communities in Schools, Gateway to College, and Big Picture Learning in meeting the diverse learning needs of students. Notable Achievements: Led the work, in partnership with the school district, in expanding of one campus into its own school; Coordinated the implementation of a strategic plan for a multi-million dollar NJDOE School Improvement Grant (SIG); Appropriated grant funds to maximize education reform efforts in Literacy and college and career readiness which in a single year, resulted in double-digit increase (15%) on the NJ Literacy assessment, and a 40% increase in the dual-enrollment of students to local colleges/universities through our Gateway to College partnership. Our diversified framework for teaching, learning and student support services, enabled us to exceed the district’s high school graduation rate.

As one of two high school level Assistant Principals of this grade 6-12 school, with over 1,200 students, I led the hiring, on-boarding, coaching and evaluating of staff for multiple departments including Social Studies, Special Education, English Language Learners, and Related Services. I led data team meetings, coordinated Learning Walks and Instructional Walkthroughs, as well as classroom inter-visitations for the purpose of supporting teachers' development of their pedagogy.Notable Achievements: Developed and implemented strategic plans which achieved an increase in passing rates of 8th graders on the informational text-based New York State Social Studies exam from 40% in 2008 to 50% in 2009 and an increase of over 60%+ for 2010 and an increase in passing rates on New York State History Regents Exams from 60% in 2007 to 82.5% in 2009; Revised structure of ESL program resulting in a single year (2008-2009) 32% increase of students at the intermediate and advanced levels scoring “Proficient” on the ELL language assessment and no longer requiring remediation in English Language under the new program structure.
