Hi and thank you for taking time to look at my profile.I am an experienced CFO, NED and Strategic Leader with over twenty years experience growing companies internationally across Europe, Asia and the Americas, within the Renewable Energy, Technology and Telecoms industries. I consider myself skilled at combining financial, legal and IT knowledge with experience across a wide range of commercial operations and international borders.I am able to work through seemingly complex problems and then present the core issues to Boards and other non-financial people in simple, understandable and authoritative ways. I am very focused on the execution of plans & objectives and achieve this through a combination of teamwork and rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in. I’m proud to have been involved in some of the most exciting and innovative businesses in the UK and around the world over the past two decades. I spent 2 years at Psion, the UK’s leading and most innovative technology company at the time. Through this I was invited to join to Symbian, the joint venture set up to develop software for the new generation of Smartphones. As a member of the executive leadership team I had wide ranging responsibilities as we grew the company to over 1,500 employees worldwide with turnover exceeding £300m. In 2007, I joined the former CEO of Psion and Symbian to help establish AQA63336. This was a pioneering text messaging Q&A service which we grew from its infancy to six years of continuous profits before finally selling to a third party.From 2013 to 2021, I was CFO at Sonnedix, a global Solar Power Producer. This an exciting industry, developing new technologies and returning me to my civil engineering roots. In 2014, an Infrastructure Investment Fund advised by J P Morgan Asset Management took a stake in the business which enabled the Group to grow through M&A and development such that, by the time I left, we had assets of more than €3 billion and a turnover exceeding €500m.After taking a sabbatical, I am now the CFO at Ethical Power, a UK-focussed, renewable energy developer and construction company, helping to lead our growth to a full IPP.

In my role of CFO, I have been building teams and processes to support the company growth, leading M&A and financing transactions and helping to manage investor relations. -

It is majority owned by institutional investors advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. It designs, builds and then operates solar power plants around the world. The Group was founded in 2009 and now has over 1GW of operating capacity with turnover exceeding EUR400 million and assets exceeding EUR 4 billion. I joined as the Group FD at the beginning of December 2013. This was a new departure for me, into a world of large capital projects and treasury management, taking me back to my Civil Engineering roots. The second half of 2014 saw me heavily involved in an extensive due diligence exercise as we secured major institutional investment from an Infrastructure investment fund advised by J P Morgan Asset Management. In 2016, they increased their stake to over 97% to become the majority shareholder. During 2015, I led the largest Solar PV refinancing in France as we raised a new facility of €203m for 5 operating plants. In 2016, I followed this up by closing a second refinancing in France for €93m and at the end of the year we closed a further €197m of financing in Italy. On top of this we expanded the Group through acquisitions in France, Italy, Spain and Japan. In 2019, I closed a €250m corporate facility with ING, Santander and Natixis. During my time at Sonnedix, the Group closed over €3 billion of financing and the number of employees grew from 60 to over 350 heads across eight countries.As the Group's CFO, I was responsible for all of the worldwide finance as well as IT matters. I was a member of the Global Leadership Team and served on the Boards of a number of Group companies around the world. I am immensely proud of what I achieved at Sonnedix as it transformed from a start up into a truly global blue chip operator. -
Interim Finance, Head Of Treasury And Fp&ATowergate Partnership Ltd Apr 2012 - Oct 2013GbTowergate was the UK’s largest independent Insurance brokerage, with turnover exceeding £400m. My initial interim assignment was to provide advice around the treasury function and other aspects of planning & analysis. In December 2012, I took over as Interim Head of Treasury to help manage the company through a sensitive period. In May 2013, we issued a £396m bond which enabled us to repay all of our bank debt and end our existing covenant obligations. I also recruited my replacement and, with all my objectives completed, I finished my spell as Head of Treasury in September 2013. I then went trekking in Nepal before starting my new role at Sonnedix. -

We answered over 26 million questions and had six successive, profitable years.In late 2011, we successfully completed the sale of the trade and assets to a third party operator. We then dissolved the remaining company to extract the cash in a tax efficient way in April 2012. -
