I have nine years of experience as a mental health and substance abuse counseling at both community agencies and in private practice. I am a founding member of the Rockbridge-Bath Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), training law enforcement and communications officers about effective response to mental health emergencies. I left clinical work in order to complete a year of service as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at the Campus Kitchen at Washington & Lee University. Since earning a PhD in International Psychology with a concentration in trauma in 2016, I have taught at the University of Lynchburg and Randolph College as Visiting Assistant Professor and at Virginia Military Institute, Southern Virginia University, University of Pikeville, and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College as adjunct faculty. I have taught a variety of courses, including special topics courses that I developed. I served on the board of directors for a non-profit for five years and have complete four masters-level courses in non-profit leadership. I spent July 2022 through April 2023 traveling abroad with my family across thirteen countries. I am now the program coordinator for Rockbridge CAN, a non-profit based initiative that strives to build community and link residents to resources.
