Taught undergraduate courses in the Professional Writing program at UC: business writing, desktop publishing, technical writing, newsletter editing and design, and freshman composition.

Developed instructional modules for a new associate degree program in manufacturing engineering technology. As the publications team grew, I also took responsibilty for standardizing publication formats, styles, processes, and technologies. In this position, I worked with principal investigators, faculty members, and subject matter experts to ensure that the courses being developed contained accurate information and were consistent across the degree program as a whole.

During graduate school, I worked part-time at the CCE, where I assisted in the production of instructional resource materials and grant proposals. My duties there primarily consisted of editing pre-publication drafts and updating electronic files. I also helped the Document Production Manager put together her annual production schedule and strategic plan. This was a great learning experience.

In this position, I was responsible for introducing a new brand in North America and coordinating those efforts with my European counterpart. I worked with vendors and co-workers to develop national/regional advertising and sales promotions for consumer and professional audiences, and I managed the package design for a full line of products. I also wrote and edited some of the copy used for print advertising, video, direct mail, and packaging. I participated in the company's strategic planning process and managed a $2.8MM annual budget.

This sales territory included the state of Rhode Island, the eastern half of Connecticut, and Worcester and Bristol counties in Massachusetts. I worked with 280+ retail, national, and veterinary accounts to increase annual sales in the territory by 24% over the previous year. I customized customer education classes for veterinary customers and retail sales clerks, and worked directly with consumers to educate them about companion animal nutrition.

In this entry-level position, I overhauled the administration of a series of marketing materials used by field sales people, as well as a boarding-kennel continuity program and retail sampling program. To a small extent, I functioned as a liasion between the North American sales force and the marketing department in order to assist sales managers who were developing regional promotions. I also helped to prepare the response to an RFQ for the U.S. military, which required extensive coordination with the manufacturing department in order to meet government specifications.

I supervised an in-house art department and print shop with a $100,000 budget. I managed an annual media plan and the creation of print advertising, estimated printing costs, wrote copy, proofread customized direct mailings for multiple customers.

In this position, I wrote specifications and advertising copy for firefighting gear; worked with suppliers to maximize the co-op marketing payments available to my company; implemented a consumer advisory board to help with new product development, and designed and implemented a sales program to reduce excess manufacturing inventory. I also wrote a bid for a General Services Administration contract.
