Topic: Investigation of gap junction mediated protein-protein and cell-cell interactions in brain and liver. Protein and cell interactions are involved in the recruitment of neural progenitor cells to repair the damaged brain, and contribute to metabolic and tumorigenic processes in liver.• Devised a novel protocol for the analysis of membrane protein interactions that resulted in publications in the Journal of Proteomics (2013), Cell Communication and Adhesion (2009), and an invited book chapter published by Springer in 2016 (Gap Junction Protocols).• Solved a pervasive lipid biochemistry technical issue that resulted in global protocol change in our laboratory, and developed a new method for analyzing hormone levels from lipid extracts.• Mentored numerous honours and graduate students; taught 3rd year undergraduate Biochemistry courses for 8 years• Responsible for presenting data at numerous national and international conferences, writing manuscripts, and reviewing articles in peer-reviewed journals.
