In conjunction with the School of Social Work’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Strategic Plan, I collaborated with other LGBTQ+ and social justice student organizations on campus to develop a curriculum of workshops and events to promote community engagement.* In the 2016-2017 semester alone, we hosted 8 workshops/events.I also assisted in the development of job qualifications and expectations, as well as developing the onboarding curriculum through Trello for new liaisons in subsequent semesters to ensure explicit measures for evaluating personal and organizational performance and development.

I worked closely with a field faculty member to develop curriculum around peer consultation, self-reflection, and critical thinking for 2 classes (25 students total). Using the Council on Social Work (CSWE) competencies, I used Canvas to monitor and evaluate student reflections and provide critical feedback for personal and professional development.As with much of the work I do, I participated in outreach to recruit prospective student peers for field seminar in the Fall 2017 semester.

I was accountable for working with another graduate research assistant to review 329 articles and compile the data into a conceptual model of 10 distinct variables of substance use relationships across 4 developmental stages.In addition, I coded 15 data dictionaries in Stata to read variables from data on substance use in youth and families, and assisted in the preparation and dissemination of consent forms for a study on epigenetic factors of substance use in adolescent and young adult twins.

I joined Spectrum Center as an intern for my first field placement. During this time, I was responsible for developing the curriculum of internal professional development workshops and providing supervisory assistance to staff.Over the course of 9 months, I managed two projects which culminated in targeting 5 key areas for supervision development, and aligning Spectrum Center’s program areas with 6 Core Student Learning Dimensions of Student Life at U-M while also incorporating LGBTQ+ identity-based learning outcomes for students.

As the first intern for Pride School Atlanta, Inc. I was responsible for preliminary research on developing secondary education curriculum for the start-up private school and securing funding sources for operating expenses.I also had the opportunity during this time to assist in hosting a delegation of 5 social justice advocates from Central and South Asia sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and Georgia Council of International Visitors and discuss topics of LGBTQ+ inclusion.
