I am a Detroit-based journalist and the founder and CEO of The Detroit Writing Room, an inspirational community for writers, creatives and professionals. Formerly, I was the editor-in-chief of SEEN Magazine, a monthly lifestyle magazine and website that covers Metro Detroit. I was also a features reporter at The Detroit News and worked as a health and money editor at U.S. News & World Report in Washington D.C. for several years.I attended the University of Michigan and was editor-in-chief of the university’s student newspaper, The Michigan Daily. I also edited a book, “In the Name of Editorial Freedom: 125 Years of the Michigan Daily,” which is a collection of stories by successful Daily alumni who revisit the stories that launched their journalism careers. The book was published in fall 2015 by the University of Michigan Press.
