Step Out | Walk to STOP Diabetes is the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising event. This 5k annual walk is a family-oriented event, powered by individuals from the community who are concerned for their health and the health of their loved ones.This year, Step Out will walk the booming streets of North Hills in Raleigh and its surrounding neighborhood. With an intriguing array of shopping and dining options, the draw of the Midtown Farmer’s Market and Thursday evening Music Concert Series, North Hills provides a thriving destination for Step Out Participants, Corporate Sponsors and Supporters to enjoy. By partnering with the ADA on this event, sponsors can expand their image in not only the North Hills community, but the Triangle at large as a responsible and caring corporate citizen. An aggressive marketing approach is used to attract corporate sponsors and teams, people affected by diabetes, health care professionals and the general public to Step Out | Walk to STOP Diabetes. Promotion includes advertising on the streets of North Hills, Midtown Farmer’s Market, Midtown Music Concert Series, radio, television, print ads, mass distribution throughout the state, direct mail, social media, team recruitment, and person-to-person contact. Step Out also recognizes our Red Striders, those living with diabetes – Red Striders symbolize the strength, courage, and the determination needed to overcome the obstacles of living with diabetes. Red Striders inspire our work and our mission, to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes – they are the reason we Step Out year after year and continue to fight for a cure.
