I am an experienced, highly motivated leader who is a firm believer in the words of Stephen R. Covey when he stated, “Effective people are not problem-minded; they’re opportunity-minded. They feed opportunities and starve problems.” I have this mindset as I seek to affect the lives of children and the adults who serve them. As an experienced leader who has mentored and coached teachers and school-based administrators, my passion is to continue to construct strong relationships, make a positive impact upon the lives of children, while building the capacity of schools and adults within them to successfully serve children. My extensive experience as an educational leader has allowed me to serve as a conduit between the non-profit world and the educators. Helping non-profit staff and leaders effectively serve vulnerable youth in a during-the-day model, within the school day has been a labor of love over the past few years. My intricate knowledge of the functioning of schools plus my deep understanding of the culture of educators have enabled me to be an effective Director for the non-profits.Specialties: Facilitating and leading collaborative initiatives consistently producing positive results, developing and maintaining constructive relationships, building the leadership capacity of educators in low-performing schools, mentoring and coaching school-based administrators.

Leadership Professional Development SpecialistMaryland State Department Of Education Aug 2012 - Jul 2015Baltimore, Maryland 21201My primary role was to provide technical assistance to schools in improvement status, as defined by the Race-To-The-Top-Grant, in the Baltimore Public School System and Prince George's County Public Schools (Turnaround Schools/ Priority & Focus Schools). I also customized and facilitated professional development for the schools, such as establishing goals, developing and implementing strategies, monitoring implementation for success, based upon the Principal's assessment of the specific needs of the school.Another important role was to be a mentor to assistant principals and teacher leaders, identified as Aspiring Principals Fellows, in various schools in both districts, covering the range of elementary, K-8, middle school and high school. The Fellows attended 4 days of institutes, facilitated over the course of the school year, designed to increase the participants knowledge of the Maryland Instructional Leadership Framework and how to implement the Framework in their daily work. Fellows also received direct mentoring from me, primarily in a one on one environment, as they completed their leadership project during the school year. When invited to do so by a Principal or requested by a District Executive Officer, I served as a mentor/coach for Principals.
