Encompassing 214 square miles in the Sangre de Crista Mountain Range of northern New Mexico, Philmont is the world's largest youth camp and the Boy Scouts of America's largest national High Adventure Base. As a Ranger, I worked to train crews of 6-12 members (scouts and adult advisers) in proper backpacking skills which would enable them to safely enjoy their treks.
