External Phd
The PhD research focuses on the relationship between place attachment, sustainable development and effective policies in the face of accelerating climate change. I will research how place identity and visions of the future are shaped and influenced in different regions. Three regions will be compared that are all affected by climate change at different levels: the northern Netherlands, northern Peru and the Arctic. By comparing regions with different time scales of climate impacts, the research aims to draw concrete lessons on how policy-making and communities in vulnerable areas can prepare for and adapt to a changing climate.
