About Emma Cole
I started reading at the age of three, and started pointing out mistakes shortly after. Eventually, I realized that I could turn my love of polishing other people’s writing into a career. I'm currently the Associate Editor for Romantic Suspense at Harlequin, focusing on thrillers and suspense stories that are full of romance and drama. I'm also on the lookout for new voices in the field, and am particularly passionate about advocating for and acquiring writers from underrepresented communities in our romance program. After my education in the Book & Magazine publishing program, I transitioned to freelance copyediting for a number of years. I ran Stet Editorial Services, providing copy editing and proofreading to a number of publishers as well as small businesses in such areas as higher-education textbooks, focusing on nutrition, psychology, and business and accounting texts.Before setting out on my own as a freelancer, I worked as an editorial assistant at Key Porter Books. My time at Key Porter helped me develop my editorial skills. I also previously worked at Scholastic Canada, where I started as an intern and was subsequently asked to stay as a new hire based on my performance.
