Multi Academy Trust CFO responsible for financial management and budgetary control of 31 academies with a combined annual budget of £135m. Strategic leadership of financial integration of new schools joining the trust including due diligence. Leadership of legal and procurement functions and strategy development.

Leading financial and administrative operations for a new Academy, sponsored by University College London. The Academy opened in September 2012 and moved in to a new PFI building in January 2013.I have responsibility for financial and budgetary operations, human resources, and all administrative functions. I also manage the Academy's interests in respect of catering, IT and facilities management contracts.

Leading the 20-strong finance team within PfS - which is a government-owned company, limited by shares - and the financial management and budgetary control of administration running costs and school building programme funding allocations. Focus is on delivering efficiencies, managing financial risk and maintaining financial control, challenging and assisting managers to generate value and monitoring their success and ensuring the delivery of value to stakeholders. Developing and reshaping capital funding policy in the light of a changing education policy environment. Providing strategic financial advice to the Board and discharging a risk management and governance role with the Audit Committee.

Leading a team of five through the strategic development of capital financial policy in support of the government's agenda for schools. Management of annual capital funding allocations of £6 billion to local authorities and schools through strategic and targeted programmes. Provision of financial advice to Ministers, the Accounting Officer and Department's Management Board including making policy proposals in support of the strategic agenda. Management of the relationship with HM Treasury on capital aspects of the Comprehensive Spending Review.

Presentation to the Defence Management Board of financial reports detailing departmental outturn forecasts against budgeted operating cost statement, balance sheet and Treasury public spending controls, for defence budget of £40 billion. Financial briefing for the Accounting Officer and Finance Director, including proposals for managing cost growth. Management of relationship with Treasury on in-year budget management. Development of departmental guidance on Treasury budgetary control regime and delivery of presentations to senior officials on the subject.

Financial and accounting adviser to Ministers, senior officials and project teams on PPP/PFI policy. Scrutiny and analysis of private sector bidders' financial models and balance sheet treatment of PFI assets.

Led the planning, preparation and in-year analysis of resource accounts for £400 million per year married quarter housing agency.
