I have first class honours in English ( UCL 1976) & Psychology (0U 2001). Research Kings College Cambridge & Leicester University. First teaching post (11 years) at Roehampton teaching degrees in English. When I moved North to County Durham with my partner (married from 2006), I studied a PGCE before entering social work in community assessment and care management with older people. From 1994-6 I did a full time social work qualification (MA / DipSW) at Durham University, working thereafter in community care & as a Service Development Worker for carers but also including community work with people labelled as having a learning disability. During this time I completed a Diploma in Health & Social Care & BSc. in Psychology (1st class 2001). I also taught in FE in Psychology and Health Psychology, before returning to practise in the community as a Graduate Mental Health Worker (Certificate in Primary Care Mental Health at Teesside University 2005), working in PCTs in County Durham & South Tyneside. In 2007 I joined an Assertive Outreach Team in South Tyneside working with people labelled as having psychosis during which time I started a PQ Diploma in Mental Health Social Work (Commendation awarded in 2010). I also completed a PG OU Diploma in Psychological Research Methods. Up to 2008 I was working as a Care-Coordinator in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. From 2009 to 2013 I taught Social Work at Teesside University before requesting an early retirement opportunity. I consider myself as semi-retired but welcome opportunities for future work that might extend my interests. PG diploma in Humanities (Greek Drama / Foundation Philosophy) and the MA in Open & Distance Learning. I am currently completing the MA in Art History (results 2020). I worked for one year for OCNNER as an Access to HE moderator. I have worked for four years as an OU Associate Lecturer (Psychology) on 3 modules. Retired July 2019.
