This was a great challenge for a company our size, but two things worked in our favor-the Client was committed to buying as much locally as possible and Gary had previously been a facilities director at a medical facility and “spoke” the language! This was the original Industrial Signs that was owned by the Brignac family. I was hired to be an estimator, but was soon moved into being an assistant to one of their Senior Sales People, Lester Agnelly, who had the top accounts in the Company-K&B, Time Saver, etc. I was his driver, gofer, and all around helper, and it was a great learning experience. Before I found my “home” at A-1 Signs, I also worked for Emile Chaupetta at Metro Signs, Frank Gray at Brightway Signs, Bill Hunter at the new Industrial Signs, and even had a brief run at owning and operating my own Sign Company-National Lighting Service. I have worked with and learned from some of the best local sign professionals, like Jack Madere, Jim Oster, Mike Bensel, and Charlie Thomas just to name a few.
