Discounting slightly madcap part-time roles as a tailor's assistant and a peddler of vices at an off licence outside term time while I studied journalism, my one and only permanent employer has been Manchester United since 2003.Since then, my role has evolved from staff writer to contributing editor and now features editor, owing to a particular penchant for prolix prose. And alliteration, apparently. My years of service at Old Trafford have included a wide range of responsibilities. My early days spent online with ManUtd.com included picture editing and copy writing, most notably in regular on-the-whistle match reports which went live at full-time to a worldwide audience of millions.Over time, I migrated towards the club's print products - the United Review matchday programme and Inside United monthly magazine - as the editorial team's most regular provider of feature ideas and copy. As features editor, my role still consists of a hefty amount of writing, but also planning, commissioning and ensuring payment to a small but trusted band of freelance contributors.A huge perk of the role has been regular and sustained contact with myriad superstars of world football, ranging from occasional interviews with Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Roy Keane and many more, to regular columns with Gary Neville, Bryan Robson, Sir Bobby Charlton, Peter Schmeichel, Denis Law and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In December 2013, my role also absorbed the huge professional privilege of ghost writing the manager's column for the matchday programme - something that only a handful of people in history can claim to have done. This included a brief but close working relationship with David Moyes, followed by the evolution of an existing working relationship with Ryan Giggs.I also have extensive experience as an author, having written over 15 books for United, including the club's 50 greatest matches, the Treble season revisited and the official Ryan Giggs tribute (out September 2014).
