About Steve Beet

For Purpose organisations around the world play a massive role in supporting the disadvantaged and vulnerable across all areas of society and taking on challenges that pure commercial organisations see little profit in.Whilst not “for profit” in the traditional sense of maximising a financial dividend to the owners, For Purpose organisations have wider objectives but still need strong leadership, and must be professional, efficient and businesslike, if they are to maximise the outcomes they deliver for those they serve and have the greatest impact on society. The For Purpose sector is at a critical turning point. Prior to COVID-19, it was addressing a digital revolution in delivery, having to work harder for funding and constantly being challenged to deliver more for less. COVID-19 has compounded this, impacting the vulnerable and disadvantaged in a way that dramatically increases their need for support from For Purpose organisations, threatening the funding that these organisations receive and forcing an acceleration in the adoption of new digital ways of working. I have spent a career of over 40 years in management consulting working across the public, private and third sectors, leading transformation programs focused on social outcomes, both in my role as Government Lead Partner for PwC in the UK, as a seconded Public Servant in Whitehall and, since moving to Australia in 2014, as an independent advisor and volunteer across a range of For Purpose settings.I see myself as a solutions and commercial architect, drawing on this depth of expertise to help For Purpose organisations develop, with a strong focus on the commercial realities that they face.I recent years I have helped establish an innovative pre-employment program for individuals with an intellectual disability, supported a charity to win and then deliver an employment program for refugees and asylum seekers, helped a number of organisations design and implement new digital case and relationship management systems and helped a number of For Purpose organisation define strategies and plans for growth and service optimisation.I feel that all of this experience now comes together perfectly, as I now look to help For Purpose organisations emerge for the challenges of COVID-19 stronger and well positioned to maximise the social outcomes that they can deliver in a post COVID-19 world.
