*Served as Site Sustainability Coordinator, gathering data, compiling, and reporting site KPIs for GHG, Energy, Water, and Material Loss Intensities. Third party audit in Winter 2020/2021 found no material findings for this program. *Supported the Site Infrastructure Unit during plant outage, managing changes and/or repairs/upgrades to Cooling Towers and Fire Water systems and conducting Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs). *Assignment Lead for Co-ops. Provided Co-ops with guidance on projects. Performed appraisal functions to assess their performance. *Conducted studies for 1) Boiler and Cooling Water Systems (Water Quality, Corrosion, Fouling, and Water Treatment), 2) Steam Optimization, and 3) Plant Air Reliability.*Water Corrosion Study with scope including a Heat Recovery Steam Generation, waste-tar-fueled boilers, several fire-tube boilers, condensate, RO, and DI water systems: *Audited programs for boiler feed monitoring for corrosion-causing contaminants, corrosion rates, fouling, treatment, and control.*Audited the site’s programs for cooling water monitoring of corrosion, biological growth, fouling, treatment, and control. *Compared the current treatment & monitoring methods against best practices, identified gaps, and recommended improvement measures.*Site Steam Optimization: Audit of all operational data of steam generation, fuel consumption/costs. Yielded steam production efficiency for every distinct source of steam mentioned previously. Coupled this data with operational constraints and costs of maintenance related to steam generation. Identified potential savings. Implemented forecasted and tiered management of steam generation to give operations visibility and informational tools to capture savings. The next phase was to develop and implement an automatic controller still in progress at the time of my departure from the company.

Projects included the design and start-up of new plants as well as the optimization of existing plants. Project sites included but not limited to Guion, AR, Kasota, MN, Junction City, GA, and Crane, TX.*Developed training modules and trained on subjects such as Tailings Plant Operation, Flocculant and Coagulant Water Treatment Chemicals and Their Applications for Mineral Solids Settling and Agglomeration. Tailored training sessions for their respective audience, such as operators, engineers, sales representatives, or lay persons. *Provided expert ability in calculating and organizing design criteria for process flow sheets including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID). Created process flow diagrams (PFD) for defining liquid, solids, volumetric, heat, and material balances.*Extensive field engineering experience including start-up, gathering data, measuring/sampling process flows, direct client contact/communication, and communicating with and training field operators, electricians and mechanics. *Authored Covia Corporation’s detailed engineering standard for Thickener Application and Design. *Managed project needs, goals, action plans, and issues with other departments to support and meet project goals regarding time and budget. Served as a senior process engineer in six-month foreign assignment for Proyecto Toromocho Perú Hydrometallurgical Plant Pre-Commissioning initiative (Molybdenum and Copper).

*Served as “second” to lead process engineer on multi-billion dollar copper expansion. Responsibilities mirrored lead process engineer when appropriate. The project included copper and molybdenum grinding, flotation, and copper/moly concentration, tailings processing for the Morenci-Metcalf Expansion.*Communicated and coordinated across functional groups to execute project goals. Specifically for design criteria for P&ID and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Mass Balance. Participated in HAZOP and Operational reviews of engineered plant designs. Developed and executed corrective action plans for recommended changes. *Expertly managed customer expectations by communicating timely and thorough updates on project status.*Supervised work of CAD design staff and mentored junior engineers through the duration of projects.
