Profile bio

About Steve Breen

By trade I am a mechanical engineer with experience on gas turbine engines, aircraft structures, components, and systems. After several years of working on the physical product I decided to take a move in to the support areas.I am a self starter, who works to get the job done whilst seeking ways the task could be improved in the future.I have proven team leader experience in a support environment, through gaining promotion I have taken on a pre-established team, and have also built a new team from a concept idea. This not only involved recruiting people for the tasks required, but also meant writing new business wide policies and procedures. The creation of this new team required dissolution of an existing team, while ensuring no drop in service, and training of staff in other positions so work could be transferred to the appropriate area enabling the Limitation Team to be established.Trained and skilled in the application of LEAN methodologies, continually seeking to eliminate waste whilst also maintaining or improving standards. This way of working has enabled me to implement two Workflow systems to replace existing processes. One of these processes was the internal Technical Query process used for all technical issues affecting progress of Sea King aircraft through depth maintenance. Once successful implementation had been proven in Sea King, I then rolled this process out in to the Lynx business unit. The second of these processes was used by two departments internally to the business, and - utilising a internet interface - by four departments externally. This process enabled communication of any logistical issue affecting progress of Sea King aircraft through depth maintenance.
