Technology has been interesting to me as far back and I can remember. Even though I love most science and technology fields, I gravitated toward computer technology. At 12 yrs old, I got my first computer and was programming soon afterwards.Learning something new is always great for me because I can’t stand not to know something I'm interested in. I’m able to quickly grasp new concepts and envision how they will integrate into the big picture, then provide the follow-through to put new systems into production.I’m a people person who works well on a team but I’m also used to working alone on projects and being self-directed. I’ve worked for years as a one-person I.T. Department. Challenge helps me remain engaged in my work, so I'm not suited to just punching a clock and doing the same thing every day.

Systems Management LeadKyndryl Aug 2022 - Present● Subject Matter Expert for Elasticsearch and Kibana. I've identified performance issues and provided resolutions and optimizations. I provide guidance for our present & future Elastic usage, including creating and documenting global standards and best practices. I'm also a member of Kyndryl's Elastic Jedi Council.● A member of the L2 support team for our advanced automation product in Artificial Intelligence Operations (AIOPS), in which I troubleshoot Kibana dashboards, data flows and advanced Elasticsearch issues, including root cause analysis.● Kubernetes cluster technical owner and administrator. -
Systems AdministratorCity Of Rome Georgia Sep 2006 - Aug 2022Rome, GeorgiaI administrated Windows servers (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policies, WSUS, Certificate Services), Linux servers, VMware virtual environment, HP/Aruba network switches, wireless networks, approximately 20 Watchguard firewalls, Carbon Black antivirus, Veeam Backup & Replication, an Elasticsearch cluster, EqualLogic SANs and multiple storage servers. A significant part of my job was engineering solutions, managing the build and putting them put into production. Some of my accomplishments since being promoted to Systems Administrator in 2013:● Recovered our entire VMware and SAN environment from a total failure caused by the previous Systems Administrator. All systems were down and I recovered them with little to no training or experience (with assistance from Dell support for the first week). There was a massive amount of repair, rebuilding, reconfiguration and recovery even after key systems were running again.● Completed a barely-begun network switch refresh, while migrating our flat network to new ranges and VLANs.● Engineered a refresh of data center and network backbones.● Engineered a MinIO S3 cluster for the Police Department.● Managed the growth of our network from 35 switches to around 80, added 70+ wireless APs and bridges, 150+ IP cameras and 15 video servers as well as doubling of our fiber infrastructure.● Built our SIEM and on-prem Elasticsearch cluster (20TB of storage with over 17 billion logs) from scratch with alerting and Kibana dashboards for monitoring.● Migrated our previously-isolated Municipal Court network into our main network.● Migrated our Police Department network to smaller, more manageable IP ranges while implementing VLANs, network monitoring, security upgrades and server health/metric reporting into Elasticsearch.● Wrote a custom phone-call logging application in JavaScript with Node.js that indexed the logs into Elasticsearch and provided a web interface for viewing the logs. -
Information Technology SpecialistCartersville City Schools Mar 2001 - Sep 2006Cartersville, Georgia● Administrated approximately 500 desktop PCs, Windows servers and Linux servers, as well as approximately 1500 student users accounts and 300 faculty accounts.● I was singularly responsible for the planning and migration from an outdated Novell Netware system to Microsoft Active Directory.● Wrote a custom Visual Basic application for use in the query of students' basic information by teachers that matched information from Active Directory to student photos on an AS400.● Wrote a custom Visual Basic application that automated the creation of new-student accounts in Active Directory and the configuration of their file shares.● Gave instruction to new staff on I.T.-related topics on a yearly basis and was the instructor in several classes we offered to current staff in new technology.
