I joined Snell & Wilcox as a Product Marketing Manager responsible for their noise reduction department. Within 12 months, I had further developed that role to include all aspects of signal conditioning and had a growing portfolio of more than 17 products. I was promoted to Head of Product Marketing and global exhibitions in 2000. This role enabled me to directly influence the strategic positioning of products, maintain financial control and ensure optimum impact of new product launches. As a parallel to this role, I led our world-wide exhibition department. This required total implementation and configuration of the company’s exhibition attendance in areas of design, market concepts, promotions, advertisement, construction, staffing, contact profile management and presentation. The end result was to ensure that the maximum opportunities were realised at each and every attendance.

I joined TMSL (a world leader in all areas of the defence industry) in 1988 as an Analyst working as part of a small team based at ARE Teddington in the principal role of analysing data and producing technical reports to TMSL customers.I later controlled the activities of the trials team where my duties involved managing the designing, maintenance, refurbishment and enhancement of the customers’ sonar facilities and the support of sea trials in both UK and European waters. In 1992 I commenced work as a Special Project Manager, involved in all areas concerned with special purpose designs and reporting directly to Operations Managers and Business Directors on these projects. The position required me to be fully conversant with all aspects of management and provide regular reports on project progress, financial breakdowns, risk analysis, contract standings and staff requirements/resources.
