CurrentResponsible for developing and overseeing a national research program on comparative effectiveness research - the Healthcare Delivery and Disparities Research Program (HDDR). The program sponsors research to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of health systems in delivering patient centered outcomes. HDDR also sponsors research to reduce or eliminate disparities in health outcomes for patients underserved in our healthcare system. Responsible for developing research initiatives and funding opportunity announcements, and managing research contracts. Projects involve large observational and clinical trial studies designed to test innovative health systems and disparity reducing interventions in the areas of technology, use of the workforce, incentives, and organizational policies and structures. Responsible for managing a staff of 26 professionals and a research portfolio consisting of 206 research contracts and one co-managed cooperative agreement totaling $946 million. Also leads PCORI’s $40 million partnership with AHRQ to train the next generation of investigators dedicated to Patient Centered Outcomes Research.
