Responsible for the day to day running of the in-house transport operation including managing teams of drivers, third party hauliers, kpi management, customer service, colleague welfare, the day to day planning of store deliveries, waste transfer and backhaul to DC loads. In addition, the role incorporates a large part of my previous role within the company such as high levels of communications throughout the wider business, servicing schedules, and organising breakdown/ defect repairs.

At Pets At Home I carry out LGV driver Assessments on our own drivers, new starters and agency drivers. I also plan and instruct driver CPC classes. The company also recognises the use of SAFED (safe and fuel efficient driving) of which I am a qualified instructor. The role also requires the updating of relevant details onto various Microsoft office programs. In addition to this I look after basic driver requirements such as any questions on EU drivers Hours regulations or working time directive rules. I am also the transport health and safety representative. This role requires me to carry out a weekly check on the transport yard and vehicles, reporting any hazards to the health and safety manager. I also provide ad-hoc cover for the FLM role in the transport department. This role involves the planning of our drivers, looking after the welfare of our drivers and airlock reps, communicating with various other departments or external contacts, monitoring and improving various KPI's, managing breakdowns, servicing or vehicle defects, debriefing drivers and airlock reps and overseeing the general running of a shift and any issues that may occur.

This position was on the Pets At Home contract, distributing Pets At Home products to its own retail outlets throughout the UK, using double deck trailers with moffett attachment. Initially this driving role required 3-4 nights out per week but changed to a mostly trunking role with a change to a 4 on 4 off shift.

This position involved the distribution of various goods/products all over the UK in a general haulage capacity. The role involved 4-5 nights out per week.

I was distributing SCA's own timber products throughout the UK to SCA's client base which included Homebase, Travis Perkins, B&Q, Jewson, Focus etc. This role required 4-5 nights out per week.
