Ichthys Onshore LNG Facility CCPP Project NT Senior Superintendent UGL - June 2015- January 2017CH2M Hill - UGL JV and GE consortium has been engaged as the EPC Contractor for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of the Ichthys EPC of Combined Cycle Power Plant. The contract includes the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) at Ichthys Onshore LNG Facilities, Blaydin Point in Darwin, Australia. The CCPP is designed for approximately 500 megawatt of electrical power demand and will be operated following Australian industry standards and practices. The CCPP is designed for island mode operation i.e. no availability of electrical power from local power grid. Reliability, availability of power and minimum greenhouse gas emissions are the key factors to be considered in the design of the power plant. Steve’s role as Senior Superintendent was to plan sequence co-ordinate and execute all daily works on the project filling in as the Construction Managers back to back, development of new initiatives, IIF leadership, setting up a successful night shift and leading LPI safety senior management walks with the client, Interfacing with the client and company over best for project outcomes, compliance audits, completions and commissioning to hand over a world class project

Steve ran daily coordination meetings with his superintendent’s supervisors and safety advisors and daily meetings with the client to ensure quality was at a high standard and ensure the procurement for the project was done in a timely manner. Steve was also responsible for the coordination and management of contractors and subcontractor’s onsite plus being integral in setting up IIF program

Koniambo Nickel Project, New Caledonia, Construction Area Manager Hatch Oct 2010-Oct 2012Steve contributed to the Koniambo ferronickel project scoping studies, prefeasibility study, feasibility study, and execution phase including engineering, procurement and construction management. The Koniambo ore body in New Caledonia is one of the largest and highest-grade undeveloped nickel laterite deposits in the world. The greenfield, pyrometallurgical facility comprises a 60,000-tonnes per annum ferronickel smelter for the extraction of nickel from saprolitic ore. Facilities at Koniambo include three open pit mines, a pyrometallurgical ore-processing plant, and a 340-MW coal-fired power generating station. Steve was responsible for the co-ordination of multidiscipline co-activities on a $690 million Metallurgical Smelter utilising Chinese, Filipino and French labour. This included installing 2 DC furnaces, smelters, hammer mills and a grinding and drying plants also Heavy lift crane coordination and SPMT movements

Caltex Refinery Shut down, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Turnaround Manager. UGL Mar 2009-Oct 2010 This project was the shutdown and maintenance of the refinery valued at approx A$10m to A$30m in the Petrochemical industry. Steve was responsible for the management of safety, supervision, subcontractors. In addition, he also worked on the estimate plan and executed shutdown works, as well as managing the budget for incident accident free turnaround at the facility.
