Adient Inc was a spin-off of the automotive seating business from the Johnson Controls Global Group. This transfer involved a promotion for me to Tax Lead of the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Italy and South Africa.I took on increased International corporate tax compliance, reporting and consultancy responsibilities in this new role, and continued to maintain many of my responsibilities from my role at Johnson Controls.These increased responsibilities included:Managing consultants who assisted us in the various tax jurisdictions I had responsibility for.Alongside my UK and Ireland responsibilities, I also took on Tax reporting for entities in Italy, Sweden and South Africa, included FAS 109 US GAAP reporting, Current tax and Deferred tax management.Working closely with EMEA Tax Director who was based in Germany, and colleagues who worked across France and the Iberia.Calculation of opening deferred tax balances for the inception of the spin-off.Managing tax controversy across various countries.Increasing my own presence with HMRC CRM.I left in December 2016 to join B&Q plc. This move was to further my career as a tax professional to gain exposure to a wider range of taxes, specifically to increase my exposure to and experience in VAT and other taxes relevant to the retail sector.

In my role at Johnson Controls I have had the following responsibilities:Managing the yearly corporate tax compliance and reporting process for UK and Ireland entities.Preparation of UK GAAP Tax accounting notes for use within annual statutory accounts.Calculation of the year end US GAAP tax entries for our UK and Ireland entities for purposes of FAS 109 reporting.Preparation of the quaterly corporate tax forecasting position for UK entities. This involves analysing forecasts from various buisness units, questioning any assumptions used and providing an analysis of tax assets available within the group.Providing support for international planning and projects. Especially in areas of acquisitions, disposals and restructuring.Undertaking Thin cap and Worldwide debt cap calculations for the UK group.Supporting in areas of tax controversy.Primary software used being HFM, SAP, Oracle, Alphatax, TaxStream.
