Test Safety Officer• Specialized skills in aerospace safety, health, and environmental administration and compliance• Performs design assessments, safety assessments and hazard analyses to identify hazards and determine compliance with Test Safety requirements; provides system safety input and design changes to eliminate, reduce, or control hazards and negotiate final resolution at Test Readiness Review (TRR) Boards. • Serves as primary Range Safety Officer (RSO) for Morpheus autonomous lander project (Project Morpheus). Developed and maintained project job hazard analyses, test hazard analyses, RSO certification test, RSO handbook, and RSO training requirements.• Maintains Test Safety Officer certification for six testing/training disciplines including unmanned testing, Reduced-Gravity Office Aircraft Operations, Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory, Crew and Thermal Systems Division (CTSD), Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, and Space Life Sciences.• Provides real-time Test Safety Officer console support for all hazardous crewmember training, including NBL suited runs and water survival training, CTSD altitude runs, and Shuttle bailout training.• Provides Test Safety support to facility Test Directors and Facility Managers to assure the safety of test subjects, test support personnel, test equipment, facilities, and test articles for all hazardous testing performed at JSC.• Assures test activities are compliant with NASA, JSC and OSHA requirements. • Reviews operational preparations and system build-up in preparation of hazardous test activities. Reviews workplaces, plans, and projects to assure that regulatory, agency, and industry standard safety requirements are considered and implemented where appropriate.• Assures compliance of JSC test facilities to relevant OSHA, Agency safety requirements and regulations and applicable industry standards.
