Working within a small team and reporting to the Lead Shift Process Operator (LSPO) duties included standing in for LSPO if he was not available ensuring the safety of the shift personnel & the smooth operations of the process, signing on permits to work, isolating equipment which needed repair, the spinning of carbon fibre precursor overseeing process control using TCS and HMI systems, carrying out daily/weekly and monthly safety audits, daily routine equipment checks in the spin deck, pigmentation and filtration, dry finish and packaging areas.Various testing through different stages of the process and recording results into an electronic system highlighting any out of specification results and making adjustments so the product is within the process limits.Whilst with the company I was actively involved as a group member of the SHE committee, we met monthly and discussed any near misses accidents/incidents whether it be with health, safety welfare or environment and assist with investigations, I was also involved in carrying out risk assessments with the safety manager and a safety rep. Bluestar fibres is a top tier COMAH site & I was a member of the emergency response team which involved search & rescue, fire fighting & how to deal with environmental issues such as spillages or releases.

Producing batches of pharmaceutical products, ensuring each stage of the process it is within the standard required. Monitoring and recording levels, pressures, flows and temperatures to ensure they are within the critical parameters of the standard, packaging the the product in a positive pressurised room and making sure the correct labels was attached to the packaging.

I started as an operator and my duties included working on process lines and working with band saws, fryers and giro freezers but worked to the position of Senior team leader and these duties where monitoring performance levels on an hourly basis, reporting any issues to senior managers during meetings and overseeing around 50 employees and ensuring the smooth operations of the production lines, carrying out personal development reviews with shift employees, carrying out safety audits on a daily basis.
