Alto manufacturing is part of the PACT group of predominantly polymer packaging companies (PP Containers (injection and Thermoformed), Dry Offset and Waterless Litho Printing, PET & HDPE bottles, closures, reduced density PS foam trays and many other products within the portfolio) Alto predominantly cater to the needs of the FMCG industry by providing polymer packaging products for customer specific filling. PLC’s used at Alto were predominantly Allen Bradley & Siemens S7 and S5 and servo motors from SEW and ABB. The site is fully air-conditioned, NATA accredited with the site having a proactive recently introduced “take 5” type safety methods and 2yrs LTI free. Recently with the introduction of the carbon tax, we embarked on a project to reduce our site energy consumption by over 25%.

Plant and Engineering Management for a large automated plastics processing facility

• Full site accountability for engineering related expenditure.• Hands on approach to upgrading the Manufacturing facilities, including Servo, SCADA (Siemens WinCC) and PLC control programming (S5 &S7) at Logic level in STL and Ladder.• Responsible for all maintenance and engineering improvements Australia-wide and in New Zealand for the organization. • Plan and co-ordinate all technical and project activities at all sites. • Provide technical advice on engineering and product quality issues through experience, contact with suppliers, use of third parties and engineering analysis.• On call 24/7 to diagnose and repair all higher level technical and production related issues.• Co-ordinate all maintenance contractors and implementation of equipment calibration program. Prepare necessary documentation and review performance of contractors to ensure optimum performance. Co-ordinate activities of workers engaged in testing, calibrating and metering unit operations and collecting and interpreting processing records.• Develop Computerised Management Maintenance System (MEX) for all plant and equipment. Bar code scanning and PDA’s for maintenance technicians for PM’s• Project manage both in-house and external personnel to gain the engineering skills to make engineering improvements within all facilities.• Manage all spare part inventories to support maintenance programs.

Involved with the setup of 5 bottled water plants (green field) in Iraq. Double RO with Ozone and UV water sterilization. After construction I managed a facility training third world employees to run the site. Al-Asad air base was where George Bush visited.
