At Homerton Hospital, my main achievements were to ensure that all laboratory areas achieved the requirements for CPA accreditation. During my time as Pathology Services Manager, I also implemented CliniSys WinPath as the Trust's LIMS system and a quality management system

My role as laboratory manager at Homerton Hospital was my first opportunity to show my ability as a manager. My role also included the establishment of a haemoglobinopathy screening service for multi-cultural Hackney, which proved a very rewarding experience. I was also responsible for providing a more cohesive pathology service and improving the working relationships between the various pathology disciplines.

I joined Great Ormond Street as a Junior B MLSO, undertaking all the duties that would be expected of a pre-registration employee. Having worked by way through the ranks of the organisation, I became Chief Biomedical Scientist in the "Specials" area of the Haematology department and my special interests developed in both haemoglobinopathy screening and red cell enzymes.
