Aspenleaf Energy is a junior oil & gas producer in Northern Alberta. In July 2018 the company tripled in size by purchasing all the assets of NEP Canada ULC. Having held the position of Controller with NEP Canada ULC, the contract role was based on transitioning the accounting system with the Aspenleaf management team to integrate the two companies. Continued to complete all the NEP Controller responsibilities while focusing on creating synergies between the two companies

Complete month end accrual and GL close process. Complete monthly revenue, operating and capital accruals. Complete DD&A and ARO calculations. Prepare quarterly financial statements and MD&A. Manage the finance team to reconcile GL accounts. Reconcile the bank and prepare cash flow forecasts. Complete monthly GST returns. Manage quarterly audits, working directly with external auditors. Newalta is Canada's leading waste management and environmental services company with the majority of operations residing in the oil and gas sector. Completed all indirect tax returns on a month-to-month basis. Included were: GST/HST, PST, QST and over 10 different United States tax returns. Investigate when tax is to be charged based on services provided in different areas. Work very closely with all operations groups to get detailed descriptions of the different jobs and complete in-depth research of PST rates and US state, county, and city tax rates. Work with the SAP operations team to configure the system accordingly. Gather and prepare information for all tax audits and reconcile all tax accounts for the company. Team with the Income Tax Manager on the quarterly tax provision. Provide analysis to complete the current and future income tax numbers.

Posted journal entries to Balance Sheet and P&L; compared month end forecast results to actual results; released financials to upper management; reconciled balance sheet accounts at each month end.Employed as the Equipment Rental Financial Analyst, Newalta's main business unit in US Operations.
