From 2002 to 2016, I led L.L.Bean’s customer-facing activities as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. During that time, my team transformed the 104-year old company from a traditional cataloger into $1b+ e-commerce/omni-channel powerhouse and one of the few websites consistently beating Amazon in customer satisfaction. Along the way, I helped launched and led one of the country's most successful credit card programs, created innovative branding programs with Subaru, the U.S. Ski Team and the Boston Red Sox and had full P&L responsibility for the company's International efforts, including 24 stores in Japan and a China joint venture. In 2014, my peers in the CMO Club named me as one of their “CMOs of the Year” for L.L.Bean’s innovative work around programmatic advertising. In 2015, I was named one of the Boston area’s “Top 20 CMOs” by VentureBeat. Most recently, my profile was included in Drew Neisser’s book “The CMO’s Periodic Table: A Renegade’s Guide to Marketing (Voices That Matter)” as one of 64 brightest minds in marketing. I also served on Google’s Retail Advisory Council - a small group of CMOs that provide feedback and direction to Google's online advertising efforts.I am equally passionate about the environment as I am business results. Over my career, I have served on the boards of Friends of Casco Bay, the Appalachian Mountain Club and the National Nordic Foundation. In 2016, I joined the board of Fast & Female, an awesome organization dedicated to empowering young women ages 8 to 18 through sport.Since leaving L.L.Bean last year, I've joined several boards, helped several friends transform their companies and invested in two up & coming start-ups. Most recently, I also had my first experience as an "expert witness" for a Fortune 10 company that focused on the lifetime value of their customers and the associated tax implications.
