For almost seven years, I have been working at the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), a Commonwealth Government department that finances and administers the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).During this period, I have worked in various roles including:- Planning- Supported Independent Living (SIL); and now- Safe and Respectful Case Manager (People and Culture)Having an adult child with a mild intellectual impairment, I'm a huge advocate for the efficacy of the NDIS and the Social Model of Disability. By simply asking people with disability what are the barriers preventing them from going about their daily lives in the same way people without disability do, we as a community, have a responsibility and the capacity to remove those barriers.I enormously enjoy my role as a Safe and Respectful Case manager, as I'm able to apply my qualifications and experiences in counselling, case management and social welfare to support customers through a person-centred and trauma informed practice lens to help them feel empowered to resolve their own workplace conflict.
