More than 15 years experience supporting physicians and clinics with their technology and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). February 2023, I have returned to my roots and launched Circle IT Solutions and Support. The vision is to improve health outcomes, reduce administrative burden and attract healthcare providers to work in Nova Scotia through the ease of use with technology and EMR Optimization. ✓Healthcare Providers and Office Admins should not be worrying about printers and network security but someone needs to. ✓The data you populate EMRs with should work for you, alerting of health risks and treatment plans. ✓EMRs and 3rd party software should reduce administrative burden. Calm and confident in my passion for helping small to medium businesses such as physicians and clinics focus on what they do best, I focus on the technology so they can focus on the patients and practice.I also look forward to witnessing the journey as the province begins implementing OPOR in Nova Scotia. I have great pride being involved in the changing landscape of EMRs in the Atlantic Provinces and value the relationships with the healthcare community which develop in the process.What got me here?With a lengthy career in the Hospitality Industry, 2001 was time for a change. Graduating with an Information Systems Administrator diploma I became Network Administrator at the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites. After 2 years I joined the Casino Nova Scotia Hotel to manage a million-dollar implementation of systems and training to convert the hotel into a Marriott corporate property.Moving to Newfoundland in 2007, I took the opportunity to go into business for myself and started Central Technology. I quickly discovered community-based physicians lacked the required IT support. While deploying and managing their networks I recognized the next phase in Healthcare Technology was the transition from paper to Electronic Medical Records(EMR). I partnered with Nightingale OnDemand as an independent contractor responsible for the Sale, Implementation and Training of their EMR for the province of Newfoundland. Without provincial initiative or funding, I transitioned 50 physicians in the province from paper charts to EMR.In 2015, as TELUS Health acquired Nightingale, I moved back to Nova Scotia and joined TELUS’ Atlantic team as Account Manager for the region of Nova Scotia. My role saw me responsible for net new sales as well as client retention in relation to the migration of Nightingale and Practimax, acquired by TELUS Health, to Med Access EMR.
