I am a full-time practitioner in visual art and a peripatetic, freelance, educator. My art practice articulates around an enduring interest in painting and drawing, which has provided a consistent thread of coherent work, spanning over thirty five years. This thread has been augmented by other areas of practice, incorporating performance, sculptural works, installation, text, lens-based media, and sound. Commercial concerns have meant that my work has involved me in various aspects of the art market, though my over-arching approach has been one of self-marketing and direct-selling, resulting in a body of knowledge and broad experience of self-curation, business planning, and marketing, within the field of art. Alongside these commercial interests, I have maintained other threads of practice which place socially-engaged interests at their heart. These have resulted in various collaborative and solo projects. My educational practice has involved delivery in Higher Education, and work with several educational establishments within the field of Continuing/Adult Ed., but its primary motivation is the delivery of teaching in Fine Art and Cultural Theory outside of the formal educational mainstream. My concerns for pedagogical approaches which are accessible and flexible, have led me to develop a person-centred and bespoke programme, which is responsive to individual need.
