I had the good fortune to co-found a SaaS Risk, Health, and Safety Gartner Magic Quadrant startup for the first ten years of my career, which we successfully funded through private equity and eventually exited. I was centrally involved in every step of the process, from strategy and close to ideation and launch. In addition to leading international teams in product, sales, marketing, operations, and customer success roles, I devoted a lot of effort to learning how to use risk management techniques most effectively to avert problems and enhance output. Paradoxically, I was exhausted at the end of the process and wished I had applied what I had learned about preventative steps to better support my health and wellbeing.Since then, I have had the chance to hold a number of senior sales and management positions in the technology, risk, and health industries, but I have never stopped thinking back on my early experiences and considering how I could assist other companies in avoiding the same mistakes I did as they establish and preserve their cultures. Now, in pursuit of this goal, I'm finishing my master's degree in Applied Positive Psychology and consulting with companies that are interested in experimenting with different approaches to risk and opportunity management to determine which balance works best for their workplace. One day, I want to work with a research team that finds a reproducible, evidence-based technique that balances risk and opportunity to find the best psychological health and safety measures for any group.
