Steve Land is an enthusiastic professional with forty three years of experience in computer systems and IT management. His passion focuses on cultivating successful corporate growth through the proper use of automation and technology. Providing a successful solution and a positive conclusion are proven results from years of experience. Utilizing technical and managerial skills, a comprehensive approach is applied and the solution is created. Background: After graduating from the Control Data Institute of Technology in San Francisco, 1979, I tutored other students, earning me the nickname ‘The Professor’; a moniker founded in my natural teaching ability that I continue to utilize today. With a focus on the operational experience of the CDC Cyber 70 mainframe-class of supercomputers, the Control Data Institute of Technology was the education arm of Control Data Corporation. It was in that opportunity where I became technically proficient in mainframe supercomputers. As you probably already know, CDC was a major computer manufacturer that built the fastest commercial mainframe-class supercomputers in the world. Other major supercomputer manufacturers included IBM, Digital, NCR, General Electric, Honeywell, and UNIVAC. However, CDC held the title of the fastest supercomputer ever built. They held that title until Seymour Cray left CDC to peruse his own ideas.Seymour Cray worked at CDC and during his time there he developed a series of machines that were the fastest computers in the world. CDC lost that title after Seymour Cray left the company and founded Cray Research and the now world-famous Cray supercomputer.I believe that the success I have achieved is because I was taught about computer systems directly from the leading manufacturer of supercomputers. I was shown at a root level by the original designers of those systems not only the theory but the actual design. That type of un-commercialized detailed level of education is not offered in any school today. The depth and detail of education I achieved at Control Data Institute of Technology, established in me, an immense understanding of computer processes and systems that has certified me to succeed as a progressive innovator of process and technology. It’s the progressive philosophy those designers of supercomputers shared with me which guides me forward to cultivate success and profitability with sophistication and ease.
