A reasonably long career in the bathroom industry in one form or another. My interest in Bathrooms started as a wall and floor tiler 35 years ago. I became more interested in the wider bathroom market, its' brands, solutions and routes to market. After learning my trade as a wall and floor tiler I started to look into how the market worked by working as a designer salesman at a local kitchen and bathroom retailer. After becoming a competent designer, surveyor and salesman, I looked into getting out on the road for a manufacturer. My first role on the road was for a bath manufacturer called Heatons bathrooms in South Yorkshire. I was a Regional manager there for two years. I was then offered a job for Showerlux who were based in Willenhall in the midlands. Unfortunately after only six months the company made a large part of its' U.K workforce redundant, including me. I was then given a position with Balterley bathrooms, part of Spring Ram. These were fast changing times and Balterley was wound up after a year. I was offered and accepted a role still with Spring Ram (who had now sold out to Jacuzzi U.K). This was for a new division called Silverdale ceramics. This company worked from the original Balterley factory but now selling high end bathroom brands. Namely B.C Sanitan and Vernon Tutbury. This was a highly successful brand and were seen as one of the market leaders quite quickly. I stayed at Silverdale ceramics for Six years and was awarded salesman of the year both years that the award ran. I was responsible for sales in London and the Home Counties, constantly hitting and surpassing all targets. I was responsible for setting up and running my own area Golf day, ran for my customers. Once I had set up as many showrooms as my exclusive range could take on my area, with as many displays as each showroom could take, I became tired of not being challenged and resigned. I went back to Tiling to take some time out for a couple of years, then decided that I missed the challenge on the road. After contacting my old M.D at Silverdale for a reference, he asked me to help launch Jacuzzi branded hot tubs in the U.K. I did that for a year successfully but still missed bathrooms and the people in it. So I was offered a job at IMPEY wetrooms as a BDM. A good challenging role as wetrooms were in their infancy in the U.K After Six successful years at IMPEY the company sold out to Coram. I and many others decided to move on. After a couple of years at Pura bathrooms and Roman showers as BDM I was asked if I would like to join CCL Wetrooms
