Tasked with overseeing the closure of the depot in St Johns Rd, Tunbridge Wells and moving all operations into a temporary location in Tonbridge that had been chosen at short notice and was far from perfect, whilst ensuring we continued to deliver a service for our customers. At the start of the year, after 3 months in our temporary home, we moved into a brand new site in North Farm, Tunbridge Wells despite the fact that only the engineering facility had been completed and operations had to make do with porta-cabins initially. The fact that both moves went so smoothly without interruption to services was a testament to the great team at the depot.

Part of the regional executive team, effectively managing the depot teams across Essex to deliver the First UK 'Better Journeys for Life' promise.By ensuring;• The profitable running of the business unit by managing all aspects of its operations, engineering and support functions in line with the budgets and targets set by the company• Delivery of all finance and quality of service targets set by the company, consistent with maintaining agreed safety standards• Delivery of all key service delivery targets and profits arising from routes in the business unit• Adherence to First group’s commitment to safety• All depot/business unit operations meet all current legal requirements• Effective financial control and reporting systems to enable the business unit to meet company accounting and audit requirements• The local leadership teams members are properly and fairly appraised, and that they are appropriately developed in line with company policy and practice• Delivery of all short and long-term business improvement plans• Compliance to all relevant traffic operator regulations, such as O licence, the Traffic Commissioner and DVSA

Working closely with the directors, Head of Depot Operations and all Depot General Managers to ensure First London & Berkshire are market leaders in service delivery in the London contracted regime so as to effect the best possible financial return for the business in quality/performance bonuses.

Reporting directly to the MD and to ensure the profitable running of the depot by managing all aspects of its operations, engineering and support functions. Delivery of all finance and quality of service targets set by the company, whilst maintaining agreed safety standards.

- Responsible for managing a profitable Depot in line with targets set by the company and specific responsibilities are detailed below.- Responsible for the delivery of all key service delivery targets and profits arising from route operating contracts.- Responsible for delivering First Group’s commitment to safety, through the development and maintenance of SOPs and safe systems of work- Responsible for ensuring that all Depot operations meet current legal requirements.- Responsible for ensuring the Depot delivers its agreed Budget- Responsible for maintaining effective financial control and reporting systems to enable the Depot to meet company accounting and audit requirements- Responsible for maintaining a staff resources plan to ensure, at all times, that the Depot is adequately resourced to meet its workload requirements- Lead the Depot’s Senior Management team, ensuring that direct reports are properly and fairly appraised, and that they are appropriately developed in line with company policy and practice- Responsible for ensuring, via the Senior Management team, the overall effective leadership and management of all staff in the Depot- Responsible for managing industrial and employee relations in the Depot- Responsible for delivering all short and long-term Depot Improvement Plans- Play a full role as part of the company’s Senior Management Group.
