I have a unique background, having studied a diverse set of interests including computer science, criminal justice, and engineering. Cybersecurity combines many of my interests and experience, making me motivated and well-suited for this field. After studying mechanical engineering and then computer science, I decided to complete my original degree to move on to my career more quickly. I graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and have a CompTIA Security+ CE certification.

Product And Partner Management InternCdw Jun 2017 - Aug 2017Vernon Hills, Il, UsA great opportunity to develop my business mindset by getting experience in diverse areas at a fantastic company. My Role:- Salesforce Administrator As a Salesforce administrator and amateur developer, I have been working to enhance our capabilities in the software. From merging external data into Salesforce, linking data within the program, to building approval processes, I have already learned a lot of valuable skills in the program. I look forward to using it to solve problems and increase productivity more as my career continues.- Process Analysis and Automation I am very lucky to be on a great team that is the Partner Sales Call Center, where we have a great culture of innovation and creativity. Our team is constantly working on new processes and strategies to generate revenue, while also benefiting our customers and partners. Part of my role here is to use my naturally technical and analytic mind to bring a fresh, outsider perspective on the strategies and processes being developed. This immersion into the business world has been an incredible learning experience so far, and appeals to my passions for economics and procedural thinking.- Partner Relations As this was my first experience in the world of complex partnerships and contracts, it was important to dive in head first. By attending every team meeting, I not only improved my note taking skills exponentially, but I also developed a much better understanding of this aspect of business. I gained an invaluable appreciation for partners, as they are just as important as a company's own staff.CDW, a fortune 200 company at the time, and the third largest technology company, did not get where it was by accident or luck. The leadership starts from the top down, and the productivity comes from the incredible community of the diverse coworkers, and I have learned so much from them. -
Public Safety Auxiliary OfficerLake Superior State University May 2015 - May 2016Working for my university's Public Safety department was a life changing experience for me. In my freshman year of college, my university saw trustworthiness and responsibility in me, and I was very honored to be accepted into the department. I was excited to start my career in the field I had wanted to be in my entire life; hoping to help people on a daily basis. My Experience:-FEMA and Incident Response trainingThe most valuable knowledge I gained at this job was from our certification and application of FEMA incident management procedures. While there are many acronyms involved, the summary of this training was how to properly manage large scale events and emergencies, of any scale. We had to demonstrate knowledge of the procedures for statewide or citywide disasters, as well as possibilities on the campus level. We applied these mitigation techniques every week at special events like hockey games, and occasionally would be involved in multi-agency exercises with federal and local law enforcement. I think this understanding and experience is something extremely unique and valuable in the business and technology world. -DispatchI gained valuable experience in answering the university and public safety phone switch boards, something that, at the time, was somewhat daunting as an introvert with a tendency to over-think things. I attribute this responsibility for noticeable growth in my ability to stay calm under pressure and speak over the phone. -Safety and SecurityAs students, we were entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring our peers safety. This meant everything from routine fire drills and checking fire extinguishers, to special event security and building security. After a year, I had an epiphany. I realized that I needed to be in a creative, problem solving, innovative career where I could continue to learn and grow. From then on, I have fallen in love with engineering and computer science, the perfectly broad field for me.

Sheriff'S Office Intelligence Center InternCook County Sheriff'S Department Jun 2015 - Aug 2015Chicago , Il, UsAs an intern for the 2nd largest sheriff's office in the country, I had a truly great opportunity. My Role:-Intelligence Collection and DisseminationI had the opportunity to learn several ways of intelligence gathering, and I also frequently had tasks to disseminate that intelligence in functional and clean graphics, so that deputies could do their jobs. -Data EntryMost of my days involved entering information from paper to the computer database. The additional practice in typing and excel certainly did not hurt my skills, and there were so many interesting things I learned in my time there.-The Real WorldThe most important experience I had at the Sheriff's Office on California Avenue was of the world around me. Growing up in the western suburbs of Chicago, everyone talks about the South Side, but not too many suburbanites work there, let alone in a building surrounded by barbed wire. It was, as expected, a bit uneasy, being on some of the most dangerous streets in the world. However,I wish everyone could see first hand the people in the criminal justice system, and in these impoverished areas, working every day just to survive. I had the opportunity to speak with several gang members and current inmates in the county jail. These are not the evil people that many distant observers make them out to be. They are humans that grew up in a world that told them their job would be being a gang soldier until they either died young, went to jail, or became the boss (which many would later realize was not a real possibility). These men spoke to me with compassion, and respect, and I showed them the same. One conversation taught me more than any sociology class ever could. I am very grateful to have had this eye opening opportunity, that I wish more people could understand.
