Howl is a world class recording studio with a very warm and intimate atmosphere which has lead it to being quite popular in a variety of musical scenes. I have worked with Howl Studio since 2010; first as an assistant, and then as an engineer who not only was responsible for recording and mixing a wide variety of audio and multimedia projects but that also managed, scheduled, and physically performed most of the studio's maintenance; software and hardware.I worked closely with the owner of Howl Studio, Dave Falco, to help develop “Howl Live”, a subsidiary of Howl Studio catering to live sound and location recording needs; recording live albums like gospel award winning “Benediction- The City Harmonic” and providing monthly live sound for the ever-growing “West End Jazz” concert series.Since moving to Nova Scotia I continue to work with Howl Studio via remote technologies, providing remote editing, production, writing, consulting, and maintenance/technical support.

My job was to assist in the set up and tear down of multiple student recording session projects and to operate protools through out tracking. Mild comping of songs that were live of the floor was required. These sessions were of music in a wide variety of different musical styles and arrangements, ranging from big band Jazz to experimental electronic synth-folk music.As a Student Studio Assistant I was also responsible for monitoring the digital audio lab and to be on stand by to provide technical, and theoretical assistance to students using the lab to complete assignments using; Protools, Sibelius, Logic Pro, and Final Cut.

I assisted students that required additional guidance with their course materials. Assistance was provided for subjects such as Digital Audio editing, Music Theory, Recording Techniques, and Music Production. Students booked my time for one on one tutoring sessions.I was encouraged to help the Students come to solutions on their own efforts and to help them develop study plans and habits which would lead to their successful completion of their courses and optimize their learning experience.

As an intern/studio assistant at the world renown "Metalworks Studios" I was able to assist some of the music industry's finest recording engineers and producers in the recording, mixing, and mastering of a wide variety of musical projects. This position was a constant lesson in etiquette, humility, and musicality as well as being an essential masterclass in industry standard recording technologies and music-industry business best practices.

I was primarily hired to organize and administer Protools and digital audio study groups. These study groups would be set up on a drop-in basis for the students and sometimes would be with groups of up to 10 people. We would cover topics such as; Recording Audio in Protools, optimizing your computers resources for recording, editing, and mixing audio, digital audio editing techniques, and operation of Protools Icon Consoles.Additional roles included proctoring exams, assisting students with music theory courses, and setting up online tests and assignments via the “moodle” platform.
