I help build purpose-driven brands. I developed a playbook that has proven success growing brands in a range of industries including outdoor, healthcare and banking. I work with leadership teams to lock up the why, the what, and the how (promise, product, and experience); and empower creative teams to drive results by making brand experiences people love. I’m currently working with a handful of founder-led brands that want to scale without losing their soul.If you’re interested in how I got here … I started my career as an architect. While practicing and teaching architecture I developed a way of making meaningful objects and experiences using the teachings of Jung, Campbell, and Maslow. I saw an opportunity to apply this approach to creating meaningful products and experiences for brands, and helped scale a product design firm into a global design, brand, and innovation agency recognized by Fast Company, IDEA, AIGA, and other design organizations. After 17 years of consulting, I crossed over to the brand side where I refined my playbook and used it to drive brand growth and build creative cultures.Over the course of my career I’ve held leadership roles on both the agency and brand side, and have driven growth across a diverse range of industries from outdoor to healthcare. I’ve helped build authentic brands for established companies like Nike, Umpqua Bank, KEEN, and Chrome Industries; disrupted markets with PE-backed businesses like ZOOM+Care, an app-enabled retail healthcare experience that had almost 2X the NPS of other providers; helped startups go from idea to market validation; and taught design and innovation methods at a number of organizations and institutions including Fast Company, Illinois Institute of Technology, Texas A&M, Arizona State University, and Portland State University.
