I have over 36 years of law enforcement and management experience including positions as Patrolman, Detective, Chief of Police, Prison Warden, Director of Security, and University instructor. Throughout this time I have demonstrated my ability to set goals and follow projects thru to a successful completion. I am currently President of ParaBellum Academy, LLC, teaching Illinois Concealed Carry classes. Until April 2014 I was the President of St. John's Financial Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of St Johns Bank and Trust. We provided a high level of personalized investment services to all clients including stocks, mutual funds, bonds, annuities, etc. Until April 2009, I served as the Warden at the Vandalia Correctional Center where I supervised 379 employees and oversaw the safety and security of 1,500 inmates and a budget of $32 million. I am also a member of the U.S. Attorney General’s Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council for both Southern Illinois and Eastern Missouri. I developed and authored the Emergency Preparedness curriculum for ITT Technical Institute. As a member of the American Society for Industrial Security, (ASIS), I have earned the coveted CPP certification. As a certified law enforcement trainer I have trained police officers in defensive tactics, defensive driving, SWAT, and executive protection. I serve as adjunct faculty for McKendree University and Kaskaskia College.. I have previously taught Introduction to Criminology and Introduction to Policing for ITT Technical Institute’s online Criminal Justice program. Additionally, I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration from Fontbonne University and a Master’s degree in Organizational Security Management from Webster University.
