Transformation Directorate - Digital Delivery Team

I currently serve as the MPS business change lead for Microsoft Office 365. I oversee and drive the roll out of innovative Power Apps to support the work of 50,000 officers and staff. I am responsible for three dynamic and diverse teams addressing radio operations, digital evidence gathering via body worn video cameras and a digital experience team managing laptops, monitors, Office 365, Power Apps and cloud storage. Briefing the most senior MPS leaders, I promote understanding and energic take up of these new services and have designed and delivered significant organisational training. I have secured cost savings and have developed initiatives to further reduce spending, sharing this learning and training across UK policing.This project has supported a highly integrated approach, moving away from numerous isolated apps to fully connected and integrated Power Apps. This work has delivered police specific business support, which, using my method, can be built and further developed for free. My approach has established the MPS as the largest creator of PowerApps in Europe and as global leaders in Power Apps use within law enforcement. My innovation garnered an invitation from Microsoft with a request to present my methodology to the head of Microsoft Power Apps and has led to presenting to the Bank of England and the Singapore government.

Digital Experience Team

Driving innovative change, I supported the roll out of 25,000 mobility devices across the MPS: ensuring robust training and support for all users. I provided comprehensive project management support, clear governance structure and compiled a benefits analysis to secure senior buy in. In partnership with consultants and technology agents, I delivered all components on time and within budget.

Operational Policing - London

Operational Policing - Police Inspector 2016 - 2019Managing various teams during this time, I ensured the effective training, guidance and professional development of my staff. Proactively building morale, I exercised a highly supportive approach to team development, ensuring clarity of purpose, required standards and mutual respect. Response - Managing around 50 officers, I directed reaction to serious incidents and supervised a wide range of operational activities. Within this 24/7 service, I ensured the appropriate staff were available in areas, and at times, of highest demand. I managed diverse, high priority, issues simultaneously leading successfully in highly challenging environments. Safer Neighbourhoods - Leading 110 staff in three dynamic teams, I implemented robust solutions to issues of most concern to the community. Building and maintaining relationships with partners, contributing to neighbourhood meetings and proactively mitigating local offending. This role was particularly challenging following the Finsbury Park terrorist atrocity of 2017 which increased community fear and distrust in the MPS. I worked with faith and community leaders to address concerns from Muslim communities, rebuilding trust and enhancing mutual understanding.During this time, I also challenged significant homelessness issues, designing and implementing resilient solutions to support vulnerable people and reduce anti-social behaviour,. I also challenged a growth in moped enabled crime. Analysing high offending areas, I engaged across the community to develop understanding of the benefits of strategically restricting traffic paths, cutting offending significantly.Public Order Commander - I provided high level direction for major public events, bringing in depth knowledge and awareness to reduce vulnerability and mitigate risk. I planned and led events, from sporting occasions to demonstrations and public disorder.

Operational Policing - London

Response - I led a team of 24/7 officers in a challenging area of London, ensuring calls for police attention were responded to promptly. Responding to major incidents, I ensured evidence was secured and witnesses, suspects and forensic opportunities were identified. I managed operational obligations alongside the professional development, discipline and welfare needs of my team. Neighbourhood - I led police engagement across a community, supporting neighbourhood involvement in initiatives to build safer environments. I maintained regular community contact and drove the appropriate sharing of intelligence, providing a direct line of communication with local groups to reduce crime and fear of crime.

Response - Tasked with the immediate reaction to critical incidents, I managed a diverse range of issues, processing information quickly and accurately and delivering a considered approach to this pressured, fast time, role. I exercised effective conflict management skills and demonstrated an ability to connect with people, with empathy and compassion, in the most difficult environments.
