My greatest Skill in Managing People- My Ability to Engage, a lesson from my travels. In My Early years- I read all the books my parents provided me, constantly trying to figure out how this world worked. My greatest leap of understanding was my first Stamp Album, with my constant going back and forth to our encyclopedias to further my understanding of other cultures. In my education phase I reached out further, completing a Bachelor of Arts at Flinders majoring in History and Politics (focusing on South East Asia and the Middle East). I did 2 stints as a Researcher/Editor for an NGO, whilst rising through the ranks of Hotel Management. With hard work, knowledge of the applicable Hotel laws and market overview I became a successful Manager at the Highlander Hotel. Through my input into Hotel Policy, the Hotels future was turned around, and assured. In my Marco Polo phase- I toured the Ireland and the United Kingdom, before returning to Australia and working at a Roadhouse on the Nullarbor. The contrasts (of city life, Europe and now the Outback) and the challenges were great, but I persevered. It must be noted that my desire to travel didn't end here, I later travelled to Vietnam (4 times) Philippines (4 times) and Indonesia (once). In my family years- I work at Holden for 10+ years, on the Production Line, and then in several Stores. I learnt all the systems they used, gradually finishing with Lean Manufacturing. I led a small team who undertook a Quality Circle challenge. We finished second in the Holden Final. Whilst the work was interesting, my out side hobbies were more enjoyable- camping around Australia with my family During my recent quiet Career Days I volunteered as a Hospital Guide, started a small cleaning business, helped migrants learn English at a Playford Council sponsored group, whilst adding to my CV (White Card, First Aid, Road Construction certificate, RSA and Certificate 2 in Security Operations). My hobbies include reading about strategy, I consider myself A CONTINUING STUDENT OF Master TZU philosophies. My favourite quote- "Know your enemy, as well as you know yourself".Currently I work as a Traffic Management operator.I LONG TO RETURN TO THOSE CHALLENGES, WITH MY EXTRA SKILLS, AND GAINED INSIGHTS.

Volunteer Teacher Of EnglishPlayford Council (Community Project) Oct 2021 - Jan 2022Playford, South Australia, AustraliaIt was a weekly one hour meet and chat, with a few hours of preparation. Preparation entailed selecting topics based on perceived needs and customer requests. The meeting was attended by a number of newly arrived adult immigrants, from all over the place.Whilst our intention was to open people up to the workings of English, in a relaxed unstructured form, we looked at Australian Society and talked about current events, for example Australia Day or ANZAC day.The two biggest challenges were getting people out of their shy phase, and looking for alternative words should the students not understand. To aid them in their adjustment I did a lot of research on finding relevant Community Groups they could approach, various shopping places they might like, and linguistic support via various business.I was sad to leave, as I enjoyed the students company, and liked the challenge of empowering them.

On seeing their destination I guided them to it via the easiest to remember route. On one occasion a Patient approached, but with no letter and a vague description of where they wanted to go. They mentioned it was the heart, so I took them to Cardiology. On arrival there the receptionist said that they were not on the appointment list. It was then the Patient mentioned it was a stress test, straight away I concluded nuclear medicine. As it turned out my educated guess was correct.I found this type of work very rewarding in it's self.
