Network Control Room Team Leader
CurrentMy current position as a Network Control Team Leader at Western Power involves leading a team of distribution and transmission controllers on a 24hr shift basis. My role manages real time operation of Western Power’s transmission and distribution networks using Power on Fusion and XA21. My role is to ensure all activities are carried out safely, efficiently and ensures the best outcomes for over 1 million customers and for the business. This is achieved by providing high level technical support to control room staff and to the senior management team, building relationships with internal and external stake holders and by reviewing and ensuring compliance with operational procedures. The NCTL manages planned and unplanned work on the network, ensures prompt management of faults and hazards, provides timely information to the Customer Contact Centre and ensures incidents are reported in line with regulatory requirements.The NCTL plays a key rule during emergency events. This involves ensuring adequate staff levels in the control room, liaising with field staff to ensure adequate resourcing, managing supply restoration priorities and providing a direct point of contact for emergency services and critical customers.The Network Control Team Leader provides front line management by monitoring staff performance, creating performance plans, provides training and mentoring, managing daily staffing requirements and ensures all team members comply with Western Power’s core values.
