I loved starting my third career in Community Mental Health, at NAVOS Behavioral Health. The community that I was able to serve, those traditionally at the lower rungs of the economic ladder, are often overlooked and usually the most deserving of great mental health care. It was a joy, and frequently a huge challenge, to work with these amazing adolecents and their families.

I've had the privilege of connecting people who have far more blessings than they can imagine, with children and their families living in desperate situations all over the globe who deserve a bright hope for their future. At World Vision, I led all aspects of broadcast acquisition channel with a focus on child sponsor procurement via radio and television partnerships. Cultivated, shaped and nurtured effective, long-term relationships between external creative agencies, broadcast stations/networks as well as internal partners and resources. Created and oversaw innovative campaigns to highlight World Vision’s efforts and brand around the globe. On-air spokesperson, celebrity ‘wrangler’ and international tour guide, exceptional relational skills and strategic thinker.

I always laughed about this position, all that was asked of me was one thing; be 100% perfect 100% of the time. No problem, right? Duties included editing, managing and overseeing post production projects, clients and equipment (with a lot client hand-holding). I designed and created commercial productions as well as producing station on-air branding and promotional campaigns, special projects and local on-air short and long-form programming.While at KOMO-TV some nice people had some nice things to say about me. I won an International Monitor Award in 1990 for 'Best Editing in a Children's Show' beating out 'Sesame Street' and 'The Cosby Show'. Along the way I was awarded 2 National Emmy Awards and 30+ Regional Emmy Awards for editing and producing. In 2004, I was honored by the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Governors Award for Lifetime Achievement.

I traveled and worked for all of the major network sports divisions as a freelance editor/producer (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, ESPN). Edited and produced for 3 Olympic Games, several NCAA Final Four’s, and countless NBA, NFL and NASCAR events. Highlights included: winning a National Emmy Award for my work with CBS as lead video edit for the bobsled and luge venue at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games, Albertville, France. I edited at the CBS International Broadcast Center for the 1994 Winter Olympic Games, Lillehammer, Norway. Edited Olympic coverage and features for broadcast during various day parts. And won a second National Emmy Award with NBC for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, Atlanta, Georgia. There I edited athlete profiles and event coverage for Prime Time, Late Night, and The TODAY Show, as well covering the Centennial Park Bombing during the Games.

OK, so I skipped a few career moves - - but this was my first paid job, and I loved it. I had the coolest route in town, I enjoyed interacting with people, got to ride my bike, and got paid for it! Sadly, I had to quit at the end of the summer after breaking my wrist while (yup, you guessed it...) riding my bike...
