After spending 23 years on the foundry floor, I have been able to fine tune my management approach in a way that aligns the needs of the team, the organization and our customers. Several factors have led to our success, but I have found the following to be my most effective contributions: • Managing all foundry operations and establishing priorities based on the production schedules. Including: melt, core & pattern making, iron pouring, molding, casting, ductile, cleaning and inspection• Promoting improvement initiatives and monitoring product quality, processes and performance levels to ensure products comply with company standards • Regularly reviewing staff utilization and recommending adjustments in labor force as well as scheduling to optimize melt performance and foundry production• Liaising with the leadership team to create new and innovative methods which will result in efficiency and productivity improvement within the foundry• Actively participating in the personal development of direct reports within the foundry/melt operation. • Supervised and coordinated activities of team members responsible for making core molds, charging, operating, pouring molten metal into molds, chipping, grinding, and shot blasting castings.• Examined materials and products at various stages of production for conformance to specifications• Purchased foundry and safety supplies in compliance with OSHA & PPE regulations• Observed foundry machines & equipment for malfunction orders adjustments or repairs or directed team members to make adjustments or repairs• Trained foundry team in processes and in operation of machines equipment.• Other responsibilities included: Casting Supervisor, Sales Supervisor, Cupola-Melting Supervisor and Shipping Supervisor
