Designed and developed a Class IIb medical device for the treatment of blood using an extracorporeal apheresis concept within a multi-discipline team.• Facilitated the writing of the Customer Requirements Specification with the customer.• Contributed to the Risk Management Process – Risk Assessment and FMEA.• Identified key components and suppliers.• Designed mechanical components from all elements of the device. Enhanced the design of an existing communications product in order to increase functionality and robustness whilst reducing costs.

Using Pro/E Wildfire produced detail drawings to BS8888. Resolved design and manufacturing issues. Designed jigs to aid manufacture. Inspected moulded components using a FaroArm so as to reconcile manufacturing errors.

Media Handling system re-design for cost and efficiency improvements, including resolution of field issues.

Using SDRC I-DEAS and Pro/E Wildfire CAD systems developed several media feeding modules for existing products and also new products. Utilised Lean Six Sigma techniques, liased closely with other design discplines / groups and manufacturing based in China.•Designed 3 Paper Feed Modules within time and cost restraints whilst doubling the maintenance interval.•Key team member in developing the architecture of the multiple tray module into which these Feeders were integrated. •Aided the introduction of Pro/E Wildfire CAD and Teamcenter PLM systems and adapted related design processes.•Certified Green Belt in Design for Lean Six Sigma techniques.

As part of a technology acquisition program for “more electric aircraft”, progressed the design of a high-speed electrical generator from concept to detailing stage for the first prototype. •Developed a design capable of operating under extreme loads and environmental conditions departing significantly from the application and technology of standard products. •Encouraged the development of in-house thermal modeling and produced test rigs to verify the resulting models.•Liaised with the customers and partners to develop the specification, resolve conflicts and define interfaces.•Owned the I-DEAS CAD layout and developed the CAD skills of colleagues.

Designed and developed world leading pre-press printing equipment from concept to production.•R&D expert on manufacturing techniques - castings, machining, moulding, sheet metal and rapid prototyping. Identified and selected new suppliers working with Purchasing. Optimized processes and designs whilst creating good supplier relationships.•Designed high integrity aluminium sand castings and developed a novel, high precision, machining solution to enable the replacement of cast iron. Designed the cast and fabricated Structure.
